MY CANCER FOLLOW-UP did not go so well. It was a bumpy-ride week. When I first got the message to come back to the hospital, I arrived home and looked at my neighbor’s house. She had been there the first time I got the diagnosis. She had tea with me and prayed. But this time, she had just recently moved away. I looked at her house wistfully, wishing my friend was there.
THEN I HEARD... church bells. They were playing a song I knew. I called Ross outside to listen. I said, “Do you hear that? That song is, “What a Friend We Have in Jesus.”
Later that night I asked my husband, “Was that a strange time for those bells to be ringing during the day?” He replied, “That was random.” Or, for me — a God moment.
Fortunately, after a long week, I was declared still cancer-free!
As the Lord is with us from the first glint of early morning light until the the darkness of the shadows of night sets in, we moved from the sunrise to sunset side of the lake. It is beautiful! And I am singing,“What a friend we have in Jesus,” as I celebrate another year of life.
"Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me." Psalm 23:4
